Product Notes

Shakira is the highest selling Colombian music artist of all time. She has sold over 60 million records worldwide. Initially unknown outside of Colombia, Shakira decided to develop her own style of music and subsequently rocketed to worldwide fame. She is the daughter of a Lebanese father and a Colombian mother. Her music honors both parts of her heritage. Shakira wrote her first song when she was only 8-years-old. Her first record deal was signed when she was a mere child at 11. Shakira moved to the United States and taught herself to write songs in English in order to break into the American market. She is credited with the biggest selling World Cup song of all time. Not content to merely enjoy her new life, Shakira remained true to her roots and created a foundation in Colombia to create schools for impoverished youth. Shakira has also given numerous charity concerts including a concert for the Clinto Global Initiative and has been invited to the White House to meet with President.
