REVIEW:
- A far cry from O. Henry's original character, Gilbert Roland remains perhaps B-Western history's most romantic leading man, positively oozing south-of-the-border charms and leaving more than one senorita with heart palpitations along this particular California trail. As he demonstrates here, the durable Mexican-born star was also handy with a blade, performing two well-staged swordfights with villainous Ted Hecht. Riding the California Trail was the fourth of Roland's six Westerns for Monogram, but the last with any kind of production values. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
