MOVIE DESCRIPTION:
Fans of the Three Stooges will feel like their prayers have been answered with this generous, lovingly remastered sampling of the trio's early material. After years of muddy-looking public domain videos and a few aesthetically questionable legitimate releases (those unfortunate 'colorized' releases), The Three Stooges Collection, Volume One: 1934-1936 is a treat for the eyes. It includes every short the trio produced between 1934 and 1936 and each has been given an impressive remastering job that really brings out the detail of the black and white photography. The audio portion of these transfers sticks to the original mono mix for each short and they sound nice and crisp despite their age. The one disappointing aspect of this set is a lack of extras. Hopefully, future releases will offer some retrospective featurettes or commentaries for fans. That said, the generous array of skillfully remastered shorts offered here delivers plenty of bang for the buck and The Three Stooges Collection, Volume One: 1934-1936 is thus a necessary package for Stooges fans. ~ Donald Guarisco, Rovi

REVIEW:
- Three Little Pigskins is one of the most enduringly popular comedy shorts of the 1930s, featuring The Three Stooges at their anarchic best. It's also famous for providing an early supporting role to Lucille Ball, who would find great success in television with physical comedy. Unlike many other Stooges shorts, Three Little Pigskins allows some time for the supporting characters to take center stage. The football game that concludes the film is wonderfully funny, carefully guided by the hand of director Ray McCarey, who also directed the Stooges in numerous other comedy classics. Several stunt performers were injured during the filming, and you can see stunt performers doubling for the Stooges in some of the more dangerous stunts. ~ Richard Gilliam, Rovi
