REVIEW:
- Augmented by a bit of hillbilly music, this Durango Kid oater from Columbia Pictures once again stars Charles Starrett as the masked rider for justice. Investigating a series of cattle rustlings, Steve Blake (the Durango Kid) is attacked by nasty Buckshot Thomas (Jack Ingram), who leaves him for dead in the wilderness. In town, Buckshot boasts to his employer, Mayor Ace Brockway (Charles Wilson), that he has killed the Kid. Brockway, who is using the local Indian tribe to terrorize a business rival, Matt Carter (Thomas Jackson), soon learns that bumbling Sheriff Smiley (Smiley Burnette), whom he appointed lawman in order to control the situation, now employs a tough new deputy and that said deputy has arrested Buckshot on a charge of drunken disorderly. The deputy, of course, is none other than the Durango Kid. Smiley Burnette performs his own "That's All Brother, That's All" and "It Ain't Much Help" while Red Arnall and the Western Aces take care of "Goin' Back to Texas," by Joseph Brockman and John Cornell, and "The Crawdad Song." ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
