MOVIE DESCRIPTION:

This DVD is a triple-episode compilation from A&E Video, providing a better than usual look at the Honor Blackman years (1963-64) than allowed previously. Volume four includes "Concerto," "Esprit De Corps," and the final videotaped episode, "Lobster Quadrille," which sees Mrs. Gale leaving Steed's side; several references are made to Honor Blackman joining the cast of Goldfinger. The series was shot on videotape, in black-and-white, and the original recordings are, unfortunately, in Britain's old 405-line video system. What this means for DVD viewers around the world is that there is only so much that can be wrung from the originals when remastering them; give A&E's engineers credit for getting as clear an image as they have. While all three episodes have a soft, contrasty look to them, they are free from compression artifacts and edge enhancement. The sound is more of a problem; noise reduction and leveling have left the mono soundtracks relatively muddy, with some obvious distortion at times. Be prepared to use bass/treble controls to get a workable result -- even better, use a graphic equalizer.
